Dear Alumni and Friends,
Thank you for taking a moment to visit Wabash's gift- and estate-planning web pages. We hope the information supplied here will provide you with thought-provoking ideas designed to help you prepare for your family's future. Of course, we also hope that perhaps you'll give consideration to including Wabash College in your plans. Most people think that estate planning is only for the wealthy. Contrary to this popular belief, I assure you it isn't. While it's true that most estates will not be subject to estate tax, many estates will leave assets to heirs which will be subject to other federal and state taxes, such as capital gains and ordinary income. There are many fine ways to help pass along assets to family, often with better results than you originally thought, and include your favorite charities in the process.
Did you know that less than 10 percent of the population has a will? Furthermore, less than 4 percent of wills include charity.
Please feel free to peruse these pages and if something piques your interest, I would encourage you to dig a little deeper. If Wabash is in your plans and you haven't let us know but would like to, I invite you to complete a Kane Society Membership form. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact us here on campus for additional information ... we're here to help, and with no obligation. And thanks for keeping Wabash in mind as you plan for the future.
Sincerely,
David C. Troutman
